Mafia: The Old Country - Man of Honor

2K is wrapping up content for Mafia: The Old Country with an expansion that, while shorter, is interesting for fans. It also adds an update that expands the range of activities.

Man of Honor is an honest expansion that lacks any real creative spark, relying almost entirely on the introduction of a young Ennio Salieri for its charm. Narratively speaking, the future Don's characterization works well and delivers great moments for long-time fans of the franchise, even if it ultimately remains a self-contained detour that has no real impact on Enzo’s journey. The gameplay holds no surprises and actually feels downgraded compared to the main game: ditching horses and melee duels turns shootouts into more conventional affairs, while rigid exploration boundaries and barren countrysides lay bare the flaws of the level design—further hindered by a bizarre 'winter' Sicily that sports the exact same spring/summer climate as the base game.

I don't consider Man of Honor a bad deal for those who enjoyed The Old Country and want to spend a few more hours with Enzo, Cesare, and company. For longtime Mafia fans, Salieri alone offers some intrigue. Just don't expect an expansion capable of changing your opinion about the base game. Man of Honor is more of the same, and when it finally threatens to be more than that, it ends.

Mafia: The Old Country — Man of Honour adds some new story beats that slot in neatly into the main campaign, and it’s nice to see Sicily again after some time away. However, beyond seeing Ennio Salieri again and where the story intends to take him, it’s worth dropping back in.

The Man of Honor DLC expansion recognizes that Mafia stories aren't really about guns, cars or crime. They're about loyalty, ambition, betrayal and the price people are willing to pay to be part of something bigger than themselves.

Mafia: The Old Country – Man of Honor doesn’t breathe new life into the game, nor does it give those who maybe didn’t enjoy the initial experience a reason to return. But for everyone else, including fans of the base game and those interested in giving this a shot, I urge you to jump on board.

Mafia: The Old Country - Man of Honor is a DLC that doesn’t aim to introduce new gameplay elements to the original game; rather, it’s more of the same, offering a narrative episode set during the main story, not after it ends. The new story, starring Enzo, lasts about two hours, and it’s precisely this short playtime that might deter many players, given the €9.99 price tag for the additional content. On the other hand, there are excellent new additions to the “Free Ride” mode, with missions that let you return to the Sicilian countryside and fully enjoy the scenery created by Hangar 13, scenery we loved so much in the base game released a year ago.

Man of Honor proves to be an interesting addition to the game, particularly because of the way it ties into Enzo’s story while also establishing a connection to the series’ origins. Moreover, the new content added to Free Ride mode further enriches the experience, offering new activities and several reasons to return to the game.

Man of Honor works well as a small expansion to the story of Mafia: The Old Country. However, while it retains the essence of the base game and offers a great atmosphere, it falls short in terms of depth.

Man of Honor doesn't reinvent the wheel, but precisely for that reason, it delivers on its promises: a tight story, richer Free Ride content, and meaningful connections to the Mafia timeline.
