Story and worldbuilding

Your truck is magic and you now owe a soul debt to the buff isekai elf girl living in your head. Run over pedestrians as Truck-kun, make deliveries, and defeat the Skeleton King across two worlds in this chaotic run-based anime driving game! Carissa Ward was all set to start her new job as the VP of marketing--until YOU hit her with your truck and transported her consciousness to a world of fantasy and magic! Rather than accept her fate, gathering a party and going on a journey of growth and self-discovery, Carissa uses all her knowledge of anime tropes and Japanese RPGs to find a different path: Unrepentant vehicular manslaughter. Pressed into the service of the newly-incarnated buff anime elf, you'll speed your magic delivery truck to complete objectives across two worlds, running over pedestrians, sending them to another world as Truck-kun, and helping Carissa power up a Galactic Gate with the stars you generate together. The Skeleton King waits on the other end of the great divide, and the only way Carissa is getting home is to take a Scroll of Resurrection from his weird, dead, bony hands. Good luck!!!

Truck-kun is Supporting Me From Another World?! does not keep its cards hidden; this is exactly the game it presents itself as, and nothing more, and nothing less.

Truck-kun is Supporting Me from Another World?! is Strange Scaffold's latest title, making players run over people and objects for isekai support.

A parodic, low-poly, out-of-control version of Crazy Taxi, capable of pushing you to start one run after another despite barely ever introducing anything new.

I can’t say I had a bad time playing Truck kun is Supporting Me from Another World!. It’s a pretty solid, small indie game that can be a lot of fun for a while. The biggest problem, however, remains the limited content and the monotony that quickly sets in, which over time starts to feel like a simple grind. Only players who are truly interested in seeing the story through to the end will stick with this title for a full 3 hours. The rest will likely decide after just the first hour that they’ve seen pretty much everything the game has to offer.

[Y]ou could do worse than spend RM49 on this PS1-looking one-trick pony just for an empty weekend.

Truck-kun is Supporting Me from Another World?! is a short burst arcade insanity with a crazy premise, an addictive gameplay loop and an infectious humor. It may feel a little aimless after a while, and the game’s depth and variety are a little lacking, yet I’ve had a legitimate blast running through the just over 3 hours long campaign. Ever fantasized about isekai-ing a young marketing VP into a fantasy RPG world while doing deliveries in an acrobatic truck? No? Well, you still should give Truck-kun a go, especially if crazy arcade classics like Crazy Taxi are your jam.

I was palpably bored with Truck-kun is Supporting Me from Another World after about two hours, which made the last hour before I rolled credits an agonizing slog. It’s a big disappointment, because the initial story and gameplay hooks are really cool and funny, but it just doesn't go anywhere with it.

Truck-kun is Supporting Me from Another World?! is such a silly concept made from a ridiculous meme in the isekai genre of manga and anime. That is to say, Strange Scaffold understands the conventions of the genre, and includes some fantastic character designs and a great ska-inspired soundtrack.
