Senara: The Sacrament

SENARA: The Sacrament is a survival horror game that may appeal to fans of the genre, although it doesn't do everything perfectly and leaves much to be desired in some aspects. If you enjoy the theme, or the naval setting, I believe it's worth checking out.

SENARA: The Sacrament delivers a disturbing and immersive horror experience built around exploration, mystery and a strong Lovecraftian atmosphere. Its abandoned ship setting, detailed environments and slow-burn narrative create a fascinating journey full of secrets to uncover. While its lack of constant threats prevents it from reaching its full potential as a survival horror experience, its psychological approach, puzzles and atmospheric design make it a memorable independent horror adventure.

But if you do attempt to give it a shot, you will be rewarded with a great little story, a beautifully rendered 6000-ton ship based on a real vessel, and also an intense atmosphere.

SENARA: The Sacrament could become one of the year's most pleasant horror surprises. After all, what secrets are still hiding behind the locked doors of that haunted cargo ship?

It starts strong with great gun-play, and exploring the ship, but I do feel like the Stalkers take too much away from the game. Senara: The Sacrament quickly loses the horror atmosphere once the second threat begins to appear, mainly because of the damage output. They also love to camp around nearby making navigating corridors a little bit challenging. Overall though the game runs great, with only a couple of visual bugs when it tried to load things in. I did enjoy exploring overall, and that Senara: The Sacrament, makes it really clear when you will need to make a choice key. I found saving is a must since endings like the helicopter one, does seem a little unforgiving, but I won’t spoil it. Well, I am giving it the Thumb Culture Silver Award.
