While Revolgear Zero takes a minute to learn, it's a big fun shooter that's more interested in being played than punishing the player.

Revolgear Zero is the quintessential example of game feel being the most important aspect of an interactive piece of software: it doesn’t innovate in terms of visuals, sound, or controls, but knows how to appease players with how powerful your weapons are, and with the sheer insane amount of rewards you acquire whenever you defeat hordes of enemy ships or a giant boss.

Revolgear Zero goes beyond the token shoot' em up in many ways. Its weapon system has depth, and what it lacks in length, it makes up for in replayability. It's a fun game to play solo, and even more fun in co-op. I'll keep an eye on Bikkuri Software and hope their next Nintendo release will have its glitches ironed out.

Revolgear Zero is an enjoyable and satisfying retro shmup experience that will undoubtedly satisfy the genre's biggest fans. It's nowhere near as challenging as some of the genre's juggernauts, nor is it as impressive, but there's still plenty to enjoy here, especially at a discounted price tag. I just wish there were more to see and do in Revolgear Zero to attract those who aren't hardcore shump fans.

Revolgear Zero is an excellent shoot 'em up that you'll literally have a blast with as you unlock parts and fully customise your ship. 💥
