Madden NFL 27 sports another year of great on-field action, including an improved catching mechanic that works really well once you get the timing down.

Madden NFL 27 is a good football game. Coming off of Madden NFL 26, the series is trending in a positive direction. Still, some glaring issues bog down the experience, and it would likely take a significant philosophy change to address them. I’ve been able to find the fun, and I’ll keep my fingers crossed that this momentum carries into next year.

This isn’t to say I didn’t have fun with it; it’s just a very typical, buggy, EA Sports Madden experience. But, I gotta say, the Franchise and Superstar modes have both seen a ton of improvements that have me coming back for more.

Madden NFL 27 brings a flashy update to its Franchise mode, which struggles to overshadow the limited updates elsewhere and the heavy implementation of new microtransactions.

Madden NFL 27 adds so much more functionality that it feels like a chess match with athletes as the pieces instead of just another Madden title.

Therefore, those who were already happy with the predecessor have few compelling reasons to upgrade immediately. Nevertheless, football fans will still get a comprehensive, superbly presented, and still very strong NFL simulation with "Madden NFL 27"—just not a revolution.

I'm loving Madden NFL 27. From its snappy interface to its more realistic Franchise and its retooled play mechanics, this really feels like a monumental season. Of course, the season hasn't started yet, so I'll be wary if EA does what they did last year and makes a good game rough with each update.
