I really enjoyed K-pop Idol Stories' glossy presentation and breezy introspection into the K-pop industry. There are better management and tycoon games out there, but if like me you're a little obsessed with K-culture, it's hard to look past this effort.

I don’t understand the power of K-Pop, and K-Pop Idol Stories: Road to Debut did nothing to entice me down that road. It’s a complex and interesting simulation game, sure, but it feels like it’s full of broken glass and really confusing notions that you can only justify/make peace with if you’re eyeballs deep in stanning. If you really want to know what it’s like to have a group of women gradually sell their souls and pretend you’re not the Devil incarnate, then definitely pick up this game, pretend you’re one of the good ones and go make fleeting stars out of strangers you may be grooming.

K-POP Idol Stories: Road to Debut is no K-POP Demon Hunters, but that is obviously an unfair comparison. I was hoping this might maybe become a companion piece to the music, the movies, the TV shows, and everything else K-POP, and in that regard I don’t think it fails, just fails short.

K-pop Idol Stories: Road to Debut successfully captures the excitement and pressure of managing aspiring idols, even if its repetitive structure holds it back over time.

K-Pop Idol Stories: Road to Debut is a disjointed and buggy experience that doesn't reward you for your choices, instead grounding everything in RNG.

This may not be the first K-pop management simulation game and doesn’t do anything overly groundbreaking, but it manages to stand out on its own. There’s a lot to be mindful of in the game, but once players find their rhythm, it becomes an enjoyable experience with various stories to discover. Treating your group well feels rewarding, and they show their appreciation. K-pop Idol Stories: Road to Debut may not live up to its full potential, but it still has a lot of content to make managing an up-and-coming K-pop group a fun and pleasant experience.

K-Pop Idol Stories: Road to Debut might well appeal to fans of simulation games and K-Pop if they’ve got nothing else to hand, but they’ll still have to put up with quite a few flaws.

K-Pop Idol Stories: Road to Debut works because it understands that becoming an idol is a marathon, not a sprint. Wisageni Studio’s work is a nice management simulator with endearing characters, significant progress, attractive presentation, and intelligent storytelling.

Perhaps for people who’ve dreamed of managing their own group this could have enough appeal, but the degree that chance feels like it often plays in success can be aggravating
